Leslie Kuny is the Owner and Artistic Director of Absolute Motion Performance & Dance, a boutique dance studio in South Surrey, BC. With over 20 years of teaching experience, she is a respected educator, choreographer, and mentor, recognized for her dynamic approach to performance and her ability to nurture dancers of all ages and abilities.

A proud graduate of Grant MacEwan and Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Fine Art Dance Major as well as a Red Seal Graduate of the ADAPT Teacher’s Training Program, Leslie believes in the power of dance not only as an art form but also as a catalyst for personal growth. As an educator she has trained and inspired hundreds of dancers across British Columbia, helping them achieve technical excellence while fostering a lifelong love for movement and self-expression.

As a certified adjudicator with The Dance Leadership Institute and the Professional Adjudicators Alliance, Leslie brings a discerning eye, a deep knowledge of technique and history, and a compassionate approach to her judging and mentoring roles. Her career has also included working with the Vancouver International Dance Festival, White Rock Players Club, Shine Dance Festival, RJC High School, Playland Amusement Park, Collabor8!, and BellyFit International.

Leslie rejects outdated teaching methods rooted in shame or guilt, instead creating a human-centred classroom built on trust, humour, and encouragement. Her teaching and mentorship have been recognized through awards such as the Shine Dance Festival Mentor Award and the Coach of the Year from the Surrey Now-Leader.

As a sought-after choreographer, Leslie’s award-winning works are celebrated for their innovation, artistry, and emotional resonance. With a reputation for building supportive, collaborative spaces, she continues to inspire the next generation of artists through authenticity, joy, and excellence.
